IS YOUR FUTURE IN SAFE HANDS?
THE DAY JESUS WENT TO COURT! (4)
5 Issues to Deal with in Daniel 7
1. What are the beasts symbols of?
2. Who/what is the Little Horn?
3. Where does the judgment take place?
4. When does the judgment take place?
5. What is this period of 1,260 days?
Daniel 7:15 “I Daniel was distressed in my spirit…. and the visions of my head troubled me.” There are issues in this vision that have disturbed Daniel. What are they?
Who or what is the little Horn a symbol of? Has he already appeared or is he/it in the future?
Listen to what Martin Luther said about the little Horn; who he identified the little horn as. Martyn p.372,373 – Martin Luther
“O, how much pain it has caused me, though I had the Scriptures on my side … that I should dare to make a stand alone against the pope, and hold him forth as antichrist (little horn)…..”
Wow, Luther and the reformers saw the Papacy of their time as the little horn! Let us see if that matches, or is just speculation. Below we will follow what Daniel saw as the characteristics, and see how they match up.
Characteristics of the Little Horn
1. Arose from the 4th Beast
2. Arose amongst the 10 horns
3. Arose after the 10 horns
4. Uprooted 3 of the horns
5. Starts small – Grows great (Daniel 7:20)
6. Has rule for 1260 days
Activities of the Little Horn
1. Speak words against God
2. Makes war with the saints
3. Thinks to change times and laws
Daniel 7:25 “ … and plot to change times and laws….”
Notice the contrast between the Little Horn and the God of Daniel 2. Daniel 2:21 “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings;”
Decrertal De Translat. Episcap, Cap.
“The pope has power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ.”
Saint Catherine Catholic Church Sentinel May 21,1995
“Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday…. not from any directions noted in scriptures, but from the Church’s sense of its own power….”
The Convert’s Catechism
Q – Which is the Sabbath day? A – “Saturday is the Sabbath day”
Q – Why do we observe Sunday instead of Sabbath? A – “… because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.”
Some have claimed that Sabbath is a Jewish festival. Is that true? What does the Bible say? Look at the following:
Genesis 2:3 “So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.” This shows that Sabbath was introduced in Eden, before the existence of a Jewish nation! What was the example of Jesus?
Luke 4:16 “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day…” He had a custom, a habit of going to synagogue on Sabbath. Others have said the Apostle Paul changed it. What does the Bible say?
Acts 13:42 “As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next Sabbath.”
Acts 13:44 “The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.”
Acts 17:2 “And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,”
Acts 18:4 “And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and tried to persuade Jews and Greeks.” If we do the calculations, Paul kept at least 78 Sabbaths as he lived over a year and a half in Corinth! Look at Jesus warning to Christians who would be alive at the desrtuction of Jerusalem in AD 70.
Matthew 24:20 “Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.” Even in the new earth after sin and sinners are no more, Isaiah says we will keep God’s Sabbath.
Isaiah66:23 “From new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before me…”
